Support
We’re with you all the way. You have a guide on the rides who can assist with any mechanicals. We have a support driver who can get you out of a sticky situation if you’ve had enough for the day or break down.
We run under an audited safety system, carry a personal locator beacon and are fully trained in first aid.
We have heaps of local knowledge, so you will also find out about the local geology, botany, wildlife, European history, Maori culture and New Zealand’s place in the world.
Most of all, we are here to have fun. We aim to create a culture of conviviality, humour and group cohesion. We look forward to melding human and machine together.
Bikes
The trip cost does NOT include your bike. This is for several reasons:
You may wish to bring your own bike. Your bike box can be transported with us for the duration of the trip without problem.
Should you wish to hire a bike here there are variables affecting the cost. This may be the type of suspension, or whether you would like an e-bike or not.
As an indicative price, you can expect to pay around NZ$100 per day for a full-sus bike and up to around NZ$170 per day for a full-sus e-bike.
We are happy to organise bike hire for you through trusted local operators. We will liaise beforehand to ensure you get a bike that works for you. We have left time on Day 1 to ensure we get this right.
We will have a support vehicle/driver and trailer with us for the duration of the trip. Bikes can be locked to the trailer and we bring ample padding to ensure there is no shuttle rash.
Meals
We take our food seriously at Ora Adventures. You will eat and drink well. There will be plenty of tasty, nutritious and wholesome meals. And a few pies. We understand the calorie output is huge, so the input needs to match.
Some locations eg Nelson, Wanaka, Clyde we will eat out. At Mount White Station your guide/hosts will prepare the meals in the self-catering accommodation. On the Old Ghost Road we will go shopping beforehand and you get to choose what you want to eat/carry. We do great lines in dehydrated food here in NZ. Meals on the OGR will be prepared yourself in the well-equipped huts. There will be plenty of snacks and summer fruit. Dietaries are no problem.
